Μόλις χθές γράφαμε για τον Strauss-Kahn, σοσιαλιστή φίλο του επίσης σοσιαλιστή πρωθυπουργού μας, ότι υπέβαλλε μήνυση στην γαλλική εφημερίδα France-Soir, η οποία απεκάλυψε τον πολυέξοδο τρόπο ζωής του. (δείτε την σχετική δημοσίευση ΕΔΩ). Φαίνεται όμως ότι ο σοσιαλιστικός τρόπος ζωής δεν είναι μόνο πολυέξοδος, αλλά όπως απεκαλύφθη σήμερα είναι και ανήθικος. Ο πολύς Dominique Strauss-Kahn, συνελήφθη χθές στη Νέα Υόρκη, και του απαγγέλθηκαν κατηγορίες κακουργηματικού χαρακτήρα για σεξουαλική επίθεση, απόπειρα βιασμού και ομηρία μιας καμαριέρας του ξενοδοχείου Sofitel, στη Νέα Υόρκη. Διαβάστε στη συνέχεια τα γεγονότα όπως περιγράφονται στον ελληνικό και διεθνή τύπο.  Το περιστατικό συνέβη στη 1 το μεσημέρι του Σαββάτου (ώρα Νέας Υόρκης στο ξενοδοχείο Sofitel της Νέας Υόρκης, το οποίο βρίσκεται στην Times Square, την πλέον κεντρική και αναγνωρίσιμη πλατεία της αμερικανικής μεγαλούπολης.
Ανύποπτη η 32χρονη καμαριέρα μπήκε στην πολυτελή σουίτα του ξενοδοχείου για να την καθαρίσει. Σύμφωνα με όσα κατέθεσε στον εκπρόσωπο της αστυνομίας η εργαζόμενη πίστευε ότι εκείνη την ώρα δεν υπήρχε κανείς στη σουίτα, η διαμονή στην οποία, ειρήσθω εν παρόδω, κοστίζει 3.000 δολάρια ημερησίως.
Ο Στρος Καν, σύμφωνα με τις καταγγελίες εμφανίστηκε μπροστά της γυμνός και άρχισε να κυνηγά την 32χρονη στον διάδρομο της σουίτας, η οποία διαθέτει αυτόνομο φουαγιέ, καθιστικό, υπνοδωμάτιο και αίθουσα συσκέψεων.
Άγριο κυνηγητό σε σουίτα 3.000 δολαρίων
Η γυναίκα κατήγγειλε ότι το αφεντικό του ΔΝΤ την τράβηξε δια της βίας στην κρεβατοκάμαρα και άρχισε να της επιτίθεται. Προσπάθησε με κάθε τρόπο να αντισταθεί, είπε η 32χρονη στους αστυνομικούς που έχουν αναλάβει την υπόθεση.
Ο Στρος - Καν την έσυρε στο μπάνιο όπου προσπάθησε να την βιάσει. «Προσπάθησε να της βγάλει τα εσώρουχα αλλά εκείνη κατάφερε να φύγει», είπαν οι αστυνομικοί σύμφωνα με το CNN. H καμαριέρα μπόρεσε τελικά να ειδοποιήσει την ρεσεψιόν του ξενοδοχείου που με τη σειρά της κάλεσε αμέσως τους άνδρες της NYPD, της νεοϋορκέζικης αστυνομίας.
Την ώρα που οι αστυνομικοί έμπαιναν στο δωμάτιο, ο Ντομινίκ είχε προλάβει να διαφύγει ξεχνώντας μάλιστα να πάρει μαζί του το κινητό του τηλέφωνο.
«Έφυγε άρον - άρον» δήλωσε ο ο εκπρόσωπος της NYPD Πωλ Μπράουνι: «Το φερόμενο ως θύμα διακομίστηκε στο νοσοκομείο Ρούσβελτ (στο Μανχάταν) όπου και της παρασχέθηκαν οι πρώτες βοήθειες για τους μικροτραυματισμούς που είχε υποστεί.
Τον κατέβασαν από το αεροπλάνο
Οι αρχές της Νέας Υόρκης κινητοποιήθηκαν αμέσως. Πληροφορήθηκαν ότι ο Στρος Καν είχε προγραμματισμένη πτήση από το αεροδρόμιο για το Παρίσι καθώς τη Δευτέρα επρόκειτο να μεταβεί στις Βρυξέλλες για το κρίσιμο Ecofin που θα συζητούνταν μεταξύ άλλων τα πακέτα διάσωσης για την Πορτογαλία και τη χώρα μας.
Έτσι, επικοινώνησαν αμέσως με την ασφάλεια του αεροδρομίου και ζήτησαν να κρατήσουν με κάθε τρόπο το αεροπλάνο της Air France στο έδαφος. Στο JFK και κάτω από άκρα μυστικότητα ανέλαβαν δράση δύο μυστικοί αστυνομικοί ντυμένοι με πολιτικά. Μπήκαν στο αεροσκάφος κυριολεκτικά λίγα δευτερόλεπτα προτού η πόρτα κλείσει.
Δεν προέβαλε αντίσταση
Εντόπισαν τον Στρος Καν να κάθεται στην πρώτη θέση του αεροσκάφους, είπε δικαστικός λειτουργός που παρίστατο στην επιχείρηση. «Δεν προέβαλε καμία αντίσταση» καθώς τον κατέβαζαν από το αεροπλάνο και του ανακοίνωναν ότι πρέπει να τους ακολουθήσει στα γραφεία της νεοϋορκέζικης Αστυνομίας.
Φήμες και ψίθυροι
Ο θόρυβος και οι φήμες για την έντονη ερωτική ζωή του Στρος Καν και τις «επικίνδυνες» σχέσεις του είχαν μέχρι στιγμής μικρή απήχηση στις πιθανότητές του να αναρριχηθεί στην Γαλλική Προεδρία. Όμως η χθεσινοβραδυνή σύλληψή του τροποποιεί δραματικά πλέον τα δεδομένα και βάζει φρένο στις φιλοδοξίες του.
Όλοι περίμεναν ότι ο Στρος Καν θα ανακοινώσει την υποψηφιότητά του μέσα στις επόμενες εβδομάδες και ο ίδιος πολεμούσε να αντιστρέψει τις κατηγορίες του γαλλικού Τύπου ότι διήγε βίο έκλυτο και πολυτελή…

Ματαιώθηκε η συνάντηση με την Μέρκελ
Όπως ήταν φυσικό, οι συνομιλίες που επρόκειτο να έχουν σήμερα στο Βερολίνο η Αγκελα Μέρκελ με τον επικεφαλής του ΔΝΤ ματαιώθηκαν. «Οι συνομιλίες ματαιώνονται», δήλωσε ανώτερος αξιωματούχος της γερμανικής κυβέρνησης που διευκρίνισε ότι στο Βερολίνο δεν πρόκειται να μεταβεί κάποιος αντιπρόσωπος του επικεφαλής του Ταμείου. Ο Στρος-Καν επρόκειτο να συζητήσει με τη Μέρκελ για την κρίση χρέους στη ζώνη του ευρώ.

IMF CHIEF ARRESTED IN ALLEGED SEX ASSAULT, POLICE TELL AP

NEW YORK — The head of the International Monetary Fund was removed from a Paris-bound flight in New York minutes before takeoff Saturday afternoon and was arrested in connection with a sexual assault on a housekeeper at a Manhattan hotel earlier that day, police told the Associated Press.

The AP reported that Dominique Strauss-Kahn, 62, was questioned by the New York Police Department’s special victims office, according to Paul J. Browne, police spokesman. The IMF chief was arrested at 2:15 a.m. Sunday on charges of criminal sex act, attempted rape and unlawful imprisonment, police said. Strauss-Kahn had retained an attorney and was not making statements to police, Browne said.

According to the AP report, Browne said the housekeeper told authorities she entered Strauss-Kahn’s suite at the luxury Sofitel hotel not far from Manhattan’s Times Square at about 1 p.m., and that he attacked her. She said she had been told to clean the spacious $3,000-a-night suite, which she had been told was empty, Browne said.

The wire service said the woman gave this account to police: Strauss-Kahn emerged from the bathroom naked, chased her down a hallway and pulled her into a bedroom, where he began to sexually assault her. She said she fought him off, but then he dragged her into the bathroom. The woman was able to break free again, escaped the room and told hotel staff what had happened, and they called police, authorities said..
Browne said that when police detectives arrived moments later, Strauss-Kahn had already left the hotel, leaving behind his cellphone, the AP reported. “It looked like he got out of there in a hurry,” Browne said.
Police discovered that he was at the airport, and they contacted Port Authority officials, who removed Kahn from first class on the Air France flight that was scheduled to depart at 4:40 p.m. and was just about to leave the gate.
The allegations create immediate uncertainty for the Washington-based IMF, which has been playing an important role in stabilizing the global economy amid the financial crisis.
It also promises to stir up politics in France, where Strauss-Kahn is widely thought to be considering challenging French President Nicolas Sarkozy in next year’s election. Polls have indicated that he has a good chance of defeating Sarkozy.
An IMF spokesman had no immediate comment.
About 10 minutes before Air France Flight 23 was to take off Saturday, officers with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey boarded the plane and removed Strauss-Kahn, authorities said. They did not handcuff him.
The officers were acting at the behest of the NYPD and turned over the Frenchman to police shortly thereafter. The Associated Press reported that a top police spokesman said that Strauss-Kahn had been staying at the Sofitel near Times Square.
An economist and lawyer who has gained prominence while leading the IMF through one of the world’s worst financial crises, Strauss-Kahn joined the organization in 2007 with the support of the United States and many European nations.

The arrest is set to change the course of France's presidential elections next year, likely depriving the Socialist Part of its most promising candidate and boosting the chances of reelection for French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
"Whatever the outcome of the procedure is, [Mr. Strauss-Kahn] will not be able to run for president," said Jacques Attali, a former advisor to France's late Socialist president Francois Mitterrand.
The arrest of Mr. Strauss-Kahn, 62 years old, who was apprehended by police in the first-class section of an Air France plane minutes before it left New York for Paris on Saturday night, also throws into disarray the leadership of the IMF, whose intervention has played a key role helping European leaders manage the continent's debt crisis.
A law enforcement official in New York said Mr. Strauss-Kahn was taken into police custody on Saturday night after being removed from the Air France plane. Mr. Strauss-Kahn allegedly forced a cleaning woman onto his bed and sexually assaulted her at around 1 p.m. Saturday inside his room at the Sofitel Hotel near Times Square, the official said.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn allegedly allowed the woman to leave and then departed for the airport, the official said. The alleged victim informed co-workers who then alerted authorities, the official said. Mr. Strauss-Kahn left personal belongings behind in his hotel room, including a mobile phone, the official added. Mr. Strauss-Kahn's attorneys in New York and in Paris didn't immediately return phone or email messages seeking comment.
"Mr. Strauss-Kahn has retained legal counsel, and the IMF has no comment on the case," the IMF said in a statement. "The IMF remains fully functioning and operational."
The Port Authority police, which has jurisdiction over the city's airports, was acting at the request of the NYPD, said John Kelly, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The Port Authority turned Mr. Strauss-Kahn over to the NYPD after he was taken into custody. Later in the night, Mr. Strauss-Kahn was formally charged with sexual assault and attempted rape, the NYPD later said in a statement.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn's arrest is likely to have big repercussions in France, where the French politician was widely expected to participate in France's Socialist Party primaries and to announce his candidacy as early as late May. The Socialist Party is holding primaries this fall, but candidates have been requested to apply between June 28 and July 13.
Recent opinion polls suggested that Mr. Strauss-Kahn would easily win the Socialist Party nomination and would also go on to defeat France's President Nicolas Sarkozy in a run-off, due in May 2012.
"It's a thunderbolt," France's Socialist Party chief Martine Aubry told reporters on Sunday. Ms. Aubry is now likely to be the frontrunner in the Socialist primaries, though analysts say she would have a much harder time defeating Mr. Sarkozy in a general election.
The arrest of Mr. Strauss-Kahn also comes at a pivotal time for the IMF. John Lipsky, Mr. Strauss-Kahn's deputy, said last week that he is resigning in August. Mr Lipsky, the Deputy Managing Director, helped Mr. Strauss-Kahn usher the fund through the global financial crisis. He has agreed to stay on as a consultant through November.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn has shepherded the IMF through a period of expanding supervisory heft and power following the global economic crisis. In the past year, the fund has played a central role in the bailouts of ailing euro-zone nations Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

Selon les premiers éléments recueillis par le New York Times, les faits se seraient déroulés à 13 heures dans une chambre de l'hôtel Sofitel de Manhattan. Une femme de ménage, âgée de 32 ans, serait entrée dans la suite de l'ancien ministre qu'elle croyait inoccupée pour la nettoyer. Dominique Strauss-Kahn serait alors sorti de la salle de bain nu et aurait tenté de l'agresser sexuellement.
Un départ «dans la précipitation»
La femme serait parvenue à se libérer et serait aussitôt partie prévenir des membres du personnel de l'hôtel, qui ont contacté la police. Quand les forces de l'ordre sont arrivées sur place, DSK avait déjà quitté les lieux, laissant son téléphone portable et des effets personnels. D'après Paul J. Browne, porte-parole de la police de New York cité par l'agence Associated Press, le patron du FMI semble avoir quitté l'hôtel «dans la précipitation».
Des enquêteurs en civil de l'Autorité des ports de New York et du New Jersey sont alors partis le chercher à l'aéroport de JFK, où il avait déjà embarqué à bord d'un vol Air France qui s'apprêtait à décoller. «Nous l'avons mis en garde à vue et remis à la police de New York» (NYPD), a déclaré sous couvert d'anonymat un responsable de l'Autorité des ports de New York et du New Jersey. L'enquête devait être diligentée par l'unité spéciale «Special Victims Unit».
Un scandale en 2008
Selon une source proche des milieux de l'enquête, des relevés d'ADN ont été réalisés mais les résultats ne sont pas encore connus. Toujours selon cette même source, le voyage de Dominique Strauss-Kahn vers l'Europe était prévu de longue date puisqu'il devait participer lundi à une réunion des ministres des Finances de la zone euro à Bruxelles, puis faire un discours mercredi au 12e Forum économique. La thèse d'une départ précipité pourrait ainsi être remise en cause.
Le FMI n'a pas encore officiellement réagi à l'arrestation de son président. Le consul général de France à New York a pu rencontrer DSK, rapporte BFM TV.
Depuis quelques semaines, Dominique Strauss-Kahn est la cible en France de critiques sur son train de vie, son patrimoine étant passé au crible dans la presse. Il venait de contre-attaquer en annonçant vendredi des poursuites judiciaires contre le quotidien France Soir. La suite de l'ancien ministre dans l'hôtel Sofitel était proposée à 3000 dollars la nuit, précise à ce titre le New York Times.
La carrière du directeur du FMI a été gravement menacée en octobre 2008 après la révélation d'une liaison extra-conjugale avec une économiste hongroise de l'institution. Mais Dominique Strauss-Kahn avait été blanchi de toute accusation d'abus de pouvoir par le conseil d'administration du FMI, qui lui avait reproché une «grave erreur de jugement». Son étoile sur la scène politique française n'a pas pâli de cette affaire, DSK continuant à caracoler dans les sondages au fur et à mesure que s'approche l'échéance présidentielle de 2012.

AFFAIRE DSK: COUP DE MASSUE AU PS

L'inculpation de Dominique Strauss-Kahn dimanche matin par le parquet de New York pour agression sexuelle est un véritable séisme politique.

L'arrestation et l'inculpation à New York de Dominique de Strauss-Kahn modifie considérablement la donne à moins d'un an de l'élection présidentielle. Le directeur-général du Fonds monétaire international, qui jusqu'à présent n'avait pas fait acte de candidature pour cause de devoir de réserve, était considéré comme le grand favori des sondages depuis plusieurs mois. Il était donné à la fois vainqueur des primaires socialistes et du scrutin du printemps prochain face à Nicolas Sarkozy.
Si Dominique Strauss-Kahn devait être empêché de se présenter aux primaires du Parti socialiste - hypothèse vraisemblable au vu des faits que lui reproche la police new-yorkaise - le processus de désignation interne serait complètement relancé. Interrogé sur Europe 1, Jacques Attali a expliqué qu'en l'état actuel des choses «Dominique Strauss-Kahn ne sera pas candidat aux primaires», sauf s'il apparaissait très vite que cette affaire est «une manipulation».
Quelle stratégie pour Aubry, Hollande et Royal ?
On peut supposer que si DSK était obligé de renoncer, Martine Aubry, tenue jusqu'à présent par le «pacte» qui la liait à Dominique Strauss-Kahn, se lancerait sans hésitation dans la compétition. La première secrétaire affronterait alors François Hollande, qui a déjà fait acte de candidature et qui progresse régulièrement depuis dans toutes les enquêtes d'opinion. L'une des interrogations réside dans la stratégie de Ségolène Royal, qui a fait part ces dernières semaines de son intention de ne rien lâcher malgré des sondages défavorables.
Quoi qu'il arrive, cette affaire constitue un véritable coup de massue pour le Parti socialiste, qui en quelques heures a probablement perdu sa meilleure carte pour 2012. Depuis plusieurs mois, les strauss-kahniens affichaient un optimisme inoxydable, même si «l'affaire de la Porsche» avait sonné comme une première alerte.

Les prochains sondages montreront qui, de Martine Aubry, de François Hollande ou de Ségolène Royal, profite du probable retrait de DSK. Si les électeurs de gauche se retournent vers le candidat qui incarne le mieux les idées de DSK, c'est probablement François Hollande qui devrait bénéficier des mésaventures du directeur général du Fonds monétaire international. Mais il est possible aussi que, dans la tempête, les militants socialistes aient un réflexe légitimiste et choisissent leur première secrétaire, Martine Aubry.
